Game six of the Stanley Cup finals was about to start, and so of course Ilya was parked in the common room with pizza and absolute control of the remote. (No, he hadn't noticed anything weird going on this weekend. This was perhaps for the best, dead mom trauma considered.)

He had some questions about these twits they had doing commentary these days, though. Predicting Vegas would win 3-2 when their goalie had let in at least four goals five games in a row was...bold. "//Really?//" he asked the TV after a second guy echoed this prediction. "//When do you think their goalie became good at hockey?//"

Blah blah blah, enough talking. Bring on the sexy hurricane witch.

Oh, no, was he developing a soft spot for Carolina? Unacceptable. He would have to make a point of scoring on them extra when he made it to the MLH, even if they weren't the Hurricanes there.

Steve and Danny had (finally) finished their home renovations, overcoming delays, overspending, and whatever Kamekona's cousins had tried to do with a bay window. (Steve had not asked, just handed over the credit card.)

The extra bedrooms and bathrooms were completed now with enough room for Nahele, Grace, and Charlie to stay over as much as they wished to (custody arrangements permitting).

Today, they were celebrating the milestone with salads, grilled fish, swimming and beer.

Steve was incandescently happy. He hadn't realized years ago how much he'd actually enjoy settling down.

Oh yeah, I'm almost glad to have a quiet weekend this time around. Let's just get these notes done and we can all have a nice evening. Hopefully.

Over at the dorms, it seems Henry wasn't prepared for this weekend as he was surprised by his guest, a Bianca. Hopefully he's got a handle on it now.

Okay, in town, we had Raiden and Gray with a guest at Over Easy. Arden arrived with strong opinions on what would be the best thing to introduce to them in the modern world. Apparently she thought there was something better than coffee and I need her to know that she's wrong. Dante stopped in and they learned about differences in angel... stuff between their worlds. Stark and Zhaan also stopped in for breakfast and to meet Raiden with some talk of a living ship. Which seems messy, but interesting. Jon and his friend Tim also stopped in for breakfast and ice cream. Ice cream breakfast. And speaking of ice cream! Dante was also at Chilly Boulder for some ice cream as he was joined by another guest named Sarah who asked questions about his ex. That had to be awkward.

Kathy had dinner with guest Eva at Il Pollo, mentioning what she's been up to lately and introducing her dog, Ronan. Very important, the dog. At the only slightly creepy mansion, Ignis made breakfast for any potential guests. Which was smart since he had Arine arrive for Liliana, but made time to cook with him as they talked about her. Noctis also turned up for breakfast, but also spent time with Liliana discussing some gardening. Liliana and Ignis also got a little time for just them that have little hearts written all over the notes. So, we can assume it was loving. Oh, at the boarding house, we had Cal continuing the breakfast trend with his Jedi master, Jaro before they got into... oh, this seems awkward. Arden got to meet him before the conversation turned to her relationship with Cal. This feels like a shovel talk. Is it a shovel talk?

*confused chittering*

Well, maybe next time don't get distracted so easily. But that's all I have here. Everyone, take some time to recover, won't you?

Time was precious - and limited.

As the sun slid back down to the horizon, the arch began to thrum once more. The space within it turned a bright white, and its voice called out again. Singing to the dead, beckoning them home.

It was time.

[[ come say goodbye to your visitors. ]]

Are you quite certain? Do you--ah, good, it's broadcasting. I hope. Good morning, everyone, and hello to our special visitors! It is I, Miss Lydia Bennet, and the squirrels assure me that the technical difficulties have been resolved and this week's broadcast should go out without issue. They are squirrels, so I do rather take that with a grain of salt, but I shall continue on regardless, even if I speak merely to the void.

We shall begin, of course, with the school, where Let's Play Tourists class visited Iceland and Paintball watched a film, rather than ruining any more of their clothing. A wise choice, if I do say so.

I'm not seeing any notes from the dormitory, but the town seems to have been rather active. At Miss Skywalker's warehouse, she was visited by Dean Skywalker, Mr. Blackwood, and Princess Leia. Welcome, Your Highness! A Mr. Dante--a newcomer?

*chittering*

Not a newcomer--was at Galactica Point with his mother, a Mrs. Eva, whilst at their home Miss Vi and Miss Gingrich were visited by the former's mother, and apparently Miss Vi is actually Miss Violet. My apologies for being so unearnedly familiar before; I shall do better in the future. At Miss Vess and Mr. Scientia's home, Miss Vess reacted to the magical energies of our visitors arriving, which naturally concerned Mr. Scientia. Mr. Argentum, with guests King Noctis and his wife, Lady Lunafreya--hm, must be one of those morganatic marriages. How scandalous! And my goodness, we've a lot of royalty about this weekend, don't we? Miss Vess was also visited by the ladies Ana and Arine, and received some concerned text missives from Mr. Boone.

And that seems to be the end of my notes. Welcome to all our visitors, and I hope you have a lovely weekend this side of the veil. And don't traumatize anyone too much. Until next week, dear listeners, farewell!

Henry didn't listen to the radio. Nor did he tend to leave the dorms on weekends for much more than to walk Mutt and to feed Pebbles and perhaps let her go for a stroll. Much more often, he'd find himself here, in the common room, tearing through several bowls of cereal (he liked the colorful ones) and having long one-sided conversations with Mutt.

So he hadn't the faintest about what all the dreams had been about. Or that odd rock he'd found in the woods.

None at all. Until--

"There you are," said Bianca's voice, and Henry just about hit the ceiling.

He whirled around and nearly fell off the couch in doing so. The last time he'd seen her, she'd been a corpse on the--

It would be a while before there'd be any hugging or conversation or anything everyone else on island seemed to be doing. Henry had gone blank, utterly. Couldn't find a thought in his head.

Just... Couldn't.

Bianca frowned. She sank down next to him on the oddly soft bench. "Hal?" she tried, softer. "Hal? Are you hearing me?"

"I," Henry said. He came back into motion jerkily, and when he did, it was to strike the sign of the cross.

"That's got nothin' to do with this, I don't think," Bianca said, gently. "I'm not a demon, Henry, it's just me, all right?"

Henry wished he could do more than gawp, but his body wasn't letting him.

If you had asked Cal how he thought he'd be spending his weekend, making breakfast for his dead Jedi Master wouldn't have been anywhere on the list. But, here he was, and here Jaro was, and here the awkward silence of so many unspoken things he'd never gotten to say was.

These were going to have to be some very magical pancakes to get them both through the morning.

The original plan had been to leave that morning for a fishing and camping trip, for old times sake but those plans were made before Ignis returned from seeing the others home and giving Noctis and Lunafreya a quick tour around the island and he'd discovered that the Eosian crew was not the only guests dropping in on them that weekend. Plans were thus adjusted (there were no complaints from anyone at the prospect of a later starting time that allowed for sleeping in) to accommodate. Ignis, who of course would never dream of something like sleeping in, was then taking to task that morning the thing that he did best when the Creepy Mansion in the Woods because even more Inhabited than it usually was:

He was making breakfast.

Which was not at all a ploy to potentially tempt Liliana's guests down while she no doubt slept and avoided them, how dare you.

He just liked to feed people, thank you very much. And should that lead to other potential consequences, well, then, so be it.

Il Pollo, Saturday Afternoon

When it came to picking out a restaurant, Kathy'd had three restrictions: it couldn't be pizza or ice cream, it had to be fancy enough that Dan--that most people wouldn't bother with, especially on a casual Saturday afternoon, and it couldn't be so fancy that it would feel out of place and weird to be at. And so, she'd ended up eyeing the collections of restaurants on Jones and Serendipity...and if they just happened to be completely across the island from any pizza joints, ice cream shops, or liquor stores, so much the better. In the end, she'd settled on Il Pollo, figuring that that little extra flare of having the name be in Italian would be the most potent deterrent of anything on the street.

How dare you accuse Kathy Li of overthinking things? This was a perfectly normal level of preparation--at least, it was if you were meeting up with your ex-boyfriend (always ex-boyfriend, never just ex, never ever)'s dead mother for lunch.

And now she just had to finish giving herself a silent little peptalk to remind herself of the restrictions she'd placed on herself for lunch: no asking. No angling. No casually leading comments. If Eva decided to bring up certain topics of conversation, that was one thing, but Kathy certainly wouldn't be.

No reason to pull Eva into the middle of this. Not that there was a 'this' to be in the middle of.

...And also, she could admit to herself, it was pride. She knew better to think that Dante would be asking his mother anything about her this afternoon, and wouldn't even need a series of ridiculous rules about it.

[For the lady mentioned, if she'd be so kind!]

Seeing mom was nice.

Complicated, but nice.

And then she'd fucked off for the afternoon for reasons Dante was pretty sure were related to somebody else running around the island. That was fine too.

Though after about five minutes, Dante'd gotten restless, and now he was here, slumped in a booth at Chilly Boulder's with two sundaes in front of him. He was picking at one of them slowly. Yeah, they were probably going to melt on him if he didn't pick it up.

But hey, that just meant rushing it at the end for a shot of adrenaline. Or something. Fuck if he had a plan.

It looked like it was one of those weekends again, and Raiden didn't know what other people wanted to do with their temporarily-not-dead loved ones, but maybe it involved taking them out to brunch! Kallias definitely needed to be fed. Raiden was making all of his favorites. No one could stop him.

Specials
Chimney Cake
Hortopita
Strapatsada

"Here you go," Raiden said as he set a fresh chimney cake down in front of Kallias. "You know, they put ice cream in them now."

"I want that," Gray said, lifting his head from where it had been cradled in his arms, since he'd been sound asleep thirty seconds ago.

Raiden ruffled his hair. "Of course you do."

Over Easy is open!

"This is the Blue Lagoon, in Iceland. We've got the 'Comfort' tickets, so you can use the steam bath and sauna, or you can swim in the actual lagoon if you want to get even colder. You can also get a mud mask. You can keep your things in a locker, and they've got towels and hair things and...and moisturizer." If that was your thing. "Oh, and you get a drink. Class this week wasn't in the field, sadly. It appeared that both teachers were in a bit of a rush for something or other. But there was a TV set up in the classroom at least. Friday movie day and all that.

"Hi, sorry about the last minute of this," Tony said once people arrived. "Next week we'll be back to normal."

"If you need to be somewhere else today, we completely understand," Steve added.

"But, for the people here, let's sit down and watch the movie."

*sulky chittering*

This is Steve Rogers with the news of yesterday. In classes, Constantine took his class through the bargaining stage of grief, which he points out never works out the way you think it will. Liliana did a deep dive into the destruction of Tolaria, and Movies and Snacks had caffeine to deal with the wave of sleep deprivation coming across the island.

In dorms, Ilya was watching the Stanley Cup finals and both he and Riri were confused about the appearance of a sexy hurricane witch. And now I'm confused about a sexy hurricane witch.

In town, Steph opened up the Magpie Emporium and she and Vi talked about how badly they'd both been sleeping this week and how much Steph appreciated Vi bringing coffee, and then about other things Steph appreciated about Vi and we're not going to mention those things in public.

And that's everything! Try to catch on sleep this weekend, maybe?

It had been… wow, four years since Leia died. At that time, Rey was still very much learning, doubting herself, mostly untested. She'd grown a bit since then.

Naturally, Leia wanted to see how she'd progressed, so Rey set up the remotes and the drones so she could run the course. Which now had lava. And floor projectiles that if she wasn't careful, could shoot her right into it. There wasn't really a chance of that now, unless she was having a very off day. She knew to bat the remotes away while she was making her slow way through the net. The things that were randomized, she knew how to handle. It wasn't easy for her, but it wasn't that hard.

And when she finished, she jumped down off the top of the climbing wall, looking like she was expecting a grade.

Eva was not surprised that it took some time to find her son. Nor was she surprised to find him like this: stretched out on an ancient, dirt-covered wall, his red coat draped over the edges, his eyes pointed firmly at the sky. He looked casual, insouciant even, but something was tight in the muscles by his eyes.

A faint tell, but well.

He was her son.

"I hope this isn't where you've been sleeping," she said, her fingers tugging on the hem of that long coat.

"I have a hotel room," Dante told the sky.

"But what's up there is more interesting?" she asked.

"There's this one star where if you look real close, it's actually two," he offered. "I think it's a double sun system. But you know the real trick?"

She looked up. "What's the trick?"

"The second sun isn't actually the twin," he said. "That one's too close for anybody to see. Even with Nephilim eyes. They just make each other look brighter. Feels fucking rude."

Eva nodded, feeling an impatience in herself, and a worry. "Dante," she said. "Look at me."

One thing Vi had learned in her time on the island was that when you didn't have to worry about getting your hands on ingredients, she found cooking (and especially cooking for Steph) kinda soothing. But this week, she was in enough of an off mood that she didn't really trust herself in the kitchen.

So it looked like tonight was going to be a beer and pizza night.

So, yelling at the stupid rock hadn't made its presence any less obnoxious in her head, and her dreams continued to be full of faces she didn't want to see and memories she didn't want to revisit. She had stuffed all of those things into a box labeled 'Josu's Sickroom' and had kicked them down into a deep dark well where she could ignore them at her leisure.

Something something about how a necromancer should know nothing stayed buried forever.

She was in the parlor, playing her lyre and debating how to destroy a rock if magic wasn't going to cut it, when a bomb went off somewhere on the island.

Or, well, that was what it felt like to her anyway, the rest of the island could be forgiven for not noticing anything had happened at all. All of a sudden, there was a pulse of death magic so powerful that she was swamped by it. The markings on her skin lit up with bright purple light as she tumbled off her divan to land in an ungainly heap on the floor.

Honestly, she was so confused and startled that she didn't even mind - perhaps didn't even notice - the undignified yelp that accompanied her trip to the ground.

"Huh?" she asked, a little dazed. If it had been a physical blast and not just a magical one, her ears would be ringing and her vision a little spotty. "Who?"

In a moment, she'd realize that the singing had stopped, along with the obnoxious whispers. But the Onakke were clamoring for more information at the same time and it had gotten incredibly loud in her brain again. She half-heartedly bid them to shut up, but her attention wasn't on them at all.

"Okay but...what the fuck was that?"

The singing faded on Friday morning. Not abruptly, just slowly, as if the notes died out one by one. The brightness that had poured out of the stone went with it, slipping into the undergrowth.

This was old magic. It took time. This power reached into worlds unknown and worlds beyond touching, hells and heavens and every other realm that persisted after life had been snuffed out.

By evening, something had settled. A thin mist that spread across the clearing, weaving power into the very air, a different kind of hum that shifted in color as the sun sank beneath the horizon.

The rock crumbled. Twisted. It built an arch out of the little pieces, filling it with power and earnest desires. Shadows appeared within, the shapes of people approaching.

You had dreamed them. They would come.

Okay, weird future with your weird different hockey league, you got Ilya. Your hockey was entertaining. It could stay.

High scoring games in the finals? Carolina coming back from four (four!) down to force overtime, going to double overtime, and then losing? Their captain scoring a game-winning goal while dramatically falling on his face? Las Vegas apparently having a hockey team now, albeit one with a dumb name and uniforms in the ugliest shade of yellow Ilya had ever seen in his life? Las Vegas thinking it was a good idea to represent their enemy as a sexy hurricane witch? This series had it all, and Ilya had pizza and full control of the remote for Game 5. If he couldn't play in the finals yet, he could at least be entertained by them.
